ClassGraphic In light of the current COVID 19 pandemic, this 90-minute online webinar entitled Countering Racism through Intercultural Skills offers an alternative to in-person workshop delivery and responds to the pressing needs of service-providers for effective methods by which to gain intercultural knowledge and skills, to examine our biases and to meet the complex challenges of cultural diversity in Southeastern Alberta.

Webinar facilitators are Dr. Roger Parent, professor emeritus, U. of A., Robert Johnston (R.Psych), and by Dr. Michael Zekulin, Lecturer at the Australian National University in Canberra.  As in the 2019 forums, this learning resource presents an approach to intercultural training that has been field-tested nationally and internationally over the past twenty years by Dr. Parent in multiple academic disciplines and organizational cultures.  The scope of the webinar is further enriched by Robert Johnston who brings extensive professional and community experience to bear on the topic of culture and mental health.  Dr. Michael Zekulin’s internationally recognized expertise in the fields of radicalization and terrorism provides invaluable insights into the key issues of culture and public safety. He has been recently studying community resilience (social cohesion) and polarization.

This project is financed through Alberta Culture, Multiculturalism and Status of Women  Anti-Racism Community Grant Program. The funding received allows Global Village Centre to offer this professional development opportunity at no cost to your organization.
